Our vineyards are nested in 3 estates, two of them of great historical value, dating back to medieval times.

The most notorious of them all is the Solar da Pena, a 22-hectare estate integrated in the Demarcated Region of Vinhos Verdes, founded in the 15th century, after the Battle of Salado.

All our properties are located on Rio Cávado’s sunny southern bank, in a variety of expositions. Our priviledged location and soils allow for an early harvest at perfect maturation levels, as expressed by our harmonious and vibrant wines.

The planted varieties are chosen according to their historic use in the area and their adaptability to the estate’ microclimate, exposition and soil. These are the main guidelines that dictate the choices from clone to rootstock.

Our 18 hectares vineyards are dominated by white varieties namely, Loureiro and Arinto, followed by smaller percentages of Avesso,Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc. Red varieties are in a minor proportion ranging from Padeiro de Basto and Espadeiro, mainly used for rose wines, and Vinhão and Borraçal for reds.

Our grape production methods are in the course of being certified and envision the achievement of a symbiotic balance between the soil, the vines and the surrounding ecosystem.
